Recently I was contacted by Simple
Little Gizmos and asked if I would take a look at their new line of
security locking products. Simple Little Gizmos has recently
introduced 4 new products to help secure your Jeep.
Door Anti-theft Lock
Handle Lock
Window Lock
Door Anti-Theft Accessory for the Handle Lock
Upon removing the parts from the box right away I noticed the high quality of
workmanship of each part. Each item includes a detailed instruction sheet with photos.
Door Anti-Theft Lock
As we all know, the doors on Jeep's are very easy to
remove. The thieves know this too! This product will deter anyone from
trying to remove your doors.
 |
The Door Anti-Theft Lock kits comes with everything needed to lock
both doors.
Slotted long nut
Sealing washer
Locking Pin
Lock assembly
2 keys
|
Installation of the lock unit is very straight forward
- Remove the factory nut
- Insert the sealing washer on the exposed door hinge post with
the rubber side facing down.
- Screw on the long slotted nut until it makes contact with the
washer. Continue to tighten the nut only until one of the slots in
the nut lines up parallel to the door.
- Check the alignment of the locking bolt and make sure the slot
in the locking bolt lines up with the slot in the long nut. If
necessary back out the bolt (not more than 1/3 turn) to align the
slots.
- Insert the serrated locking pin from the front side of the long
nut so that the serrated edge is exposed toward the rear of the
door.
- Slide the lock assembly over the serrated pin, locking it as
close to the slotted nut as possible.
When installing or removing the long nut, use a 1/2 wrench on the
upper non-slotted part of the nut.

Handle Lock
The Handle Lock functions as either the primary or
a secondary vehicle security device. With the lock in place, the paddle
handle cannot be operated.
For primary security purposes, it was designed
for pre-1990 vehicles that don't have locking doors. Through after-market
conversions, many such vehicles now have full hard enclosures with hard tops
and hard upper-half doors.
I installed the handle locks on my TJ as a
secondary security device.
|
The handle lock is made out of
hard aluminum and is black anodized. Available separately or in pairs,
the handle lock can also be used to secure the tailgate.
|
To use the Handle Lock:
Insert the lock catch and stabilizing stays into the small channel on
the front edge of the paddle handle.
Turn the key so that the lock catch is moved behind the paddle
handle.
Once locked, the paddle handle cannot be pulled open.

Door Anti-Theft Accessory for the Handle Lock
|
This device offers the same
security as the standard Door Anti-Theft Lock, while also providing a
place to secure the Handle Lock during those times when you wish to
leave the doors unlocked. When the Handle Lock is placed on this
accessory, the doors cannot be removed. |

|
|
Installation of the accessory is very similar to the Door Anti-Theft Lock unit
- Remove the factory nut
- Insert the sealing washer on the exposed door hinge post with
the rubber side facing down.
- Screw on the accessory nut until it makes contact with the
washer.
- Continue to tighten the nut only until one of the slots in
the nut lines up parallel to the door.
|
The Handle lock and accessory can be used in two modes of operation
- Vehicle is equipped with hard top and full doors, or hard
upper-half doors.
Always lock the handle with the Handle Lock. This secures the
vehicle and also prevents door removal.
- Vehicle has soft top, no top, or no hard upper half doors.
Since any of these configurations make it relatively easy to access
the inside of the vehicle, install the Handle Locks on the
accessory piece to prevent door theft.

Window Lock
Designed to provide added security for the Steel
Horse brand of upper-half doors. The Window Lock prevents movement of the
sliding window. If a would-be-thief popped the window latch with a knife or
similar device, they would still be prevented from opening the sliding
window.
I don't have upper-hard door pieces so I could not test
this product. I have included the photos and instructions as packaged with the product.
 |
The Window Lock is a one piece unit made from anodized aluminum. The
window Lock contains no moving parts and requires no tools for
installation. |
| With the Window Lock in place, the window cannot be opened. |
 |
 |
With the Window Lock rotated up, the window can be opened about 70%.
To fully open the window, simply remove the lock. |
Again, I thought the locking devices were easy to install
and were made with high quality in mind. All the devices provide a very
simple and easy solution to add some security measures to your Jeep.
